In Third Grade, your child will discover...

Primary colors: Red, Yellow, Blue
Secondary colors: Orange, Green, Violet/Purple
Neutral colors: Black, White Gray, Brown
Intermediate colors: Red-orange, Red-violet, Blue-green, Blue-violet, Yellow-green, Yellow-orange

The color wheel and mixing colors

Red + Yellow = Orange
Yellow + Blue = Green
Red + Blue = Violet/Purple


Adding white to a color makes it lighter. This is called a tint.
Adding black to a color makes it darker. This is called a shade.

Red, Orange, and Yellow are warm colors.
